• Overnight Closures A47

Highways England are advising of work to resurface parts of the A47, just outside of Vauxhall Holiday Park, and the need to close A47 between Acle Roundabout and Vauxhall Roundabout as a result.

We plan to complete this work over five nights between Monday 18 March and Friday 22 March. We will work between 8pm and 6am on weeknights only, weather conditions permitting.

    Closures and diversions

Whilst the A47 is closed, eastbound traffic will be diverted from the A47 at Trowse Newton to travel southbound on the A146. Traffic will then join the A143 at Gillingham to re-join the A47 at Beccles Road, A47 interchange.

Traffic heading westbound will follow the same diversion as above but in reverse.

A map of the diversions can be found below.

  • Fleggburgh Pedestrian Crossing Diversion Route

Works will start on Monday 29 January 2024 to install a new zebra crossing and provide footpath improvements outside Fleggburgh village hall. There will also be road resurfacing from the junction between Main Road and Marsh Road to the junction between Main Road and Rugg’s Lane. In total, works are expected to take 7 weeks to complete, weather permitting.
The new crossing is designed to help make active travel easier and safer in the area, particularly near the local school.

To ensure the works are carried out safely, a full road closure will be required at times – with a fully signed diversion route in place when needed. During the February half term holidays (19/02/2024 – 25/02/2024) there will be a full road closure outside Fleggburgh Village Hall from 7 am – 5 pm. From 4 March, lasting for 2 weeks, there will be a full road closure between the hours of 7 pm – 5 am to enable road resurfacing.

    PHA050-HD-100-002 Diversion Route Plan

When a full road closure is not in place temporary traffic lights will be in place to help vehicles move safely past the works. Vehicular and pedestrian access to properties will be maintained at all times – however there may be some short delays for vehicles at times when work is taking place in front of properties. Temporary pedestrian paths will be provided and bus operators will be informed so necessary changes to stops or routes can be planned.
